CBS has renewed Sherlock Holmes drama Elementary for a sixth season. The series had been CBS’s lowest-rated returning scripted series, but where the network fully owns the drama and snagged lucrative syndication and international distribution deals, its live ratings don’t necessarily matter, hence its place on Sundays at 10:00. There’s no word yet on whether the show will stay on Sundays or if CBS could open up Saturdays so that the show can continue banking episodes.
From Robert Doherty (Medium), Elementary is a contemporary update of the character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in 1887 and follows Holmes (Miller), a recovering drug addict who assists the New York Police Department in solving crimes. He’s forced to live with sober companion Joan Watson (Liu), a former surgeon who accompanies Holmes as he resumes work as a police consultant following a fall from grace in London and subsequent relocation. Over time, the two come to rely upon one another and form an unexpected partnership.
In addition to Miller and Liu, Elementary stars Aidan Quinn (Practical Magic), Jon Michael Hill (Detroit 1-8-7), and John Noble (Sleepy Hollow).
The season finale of Elementary airs Sunday, May 21st on CBS. The network will be revealing its 2017-18 schedule on Wednesday, May 17th; you can check out what KSiteTV thought it could look like here.
