The CW has released the trailer for its soapy reboot of Dynasty and in it, we see that while money might be able to grant you stability and security, it doesn’t really buy you happiness.

Based on the Esther and Richard Shapiro 1981-1989 primetime soap and executive produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (Hart of Dixie, The Carrie Diaries), Dynasty follows the feud between the Carringtons and Colbys, two of the wealthiest families in America who consistently bump heads over the fate of their respective fortunes and the status of their children. The series will focus on the rivalry between Fallon Carrington (Elizabeth Gillies), the daughter of billionaire Blake (Grant Show) with whom she shares a strained relationship, and Blake’s much younger significant other Cristal (Nathalie Kelley).

In addition to Show, Gillies, and Kelley, Dynasty stars Alan Dale (Neighbours), Brianna Brown (Devious Maids), Rafael de la Fuente (Empire), Robert Christopher Riley (Hit the Floor), and Sam Adegoke (Switched at Birth).

Dynasty is set to air Wednesdays at 9:00 on The CW. You can check out the network’s full fall schedule here.

Will you be watching? How do you think the trailer compares to the original? Is this going to be the show that fully gets The CW back into the world of primetime soaps?
