TV Line is reporting that beleaguered CW soap Dynasty is heading for a third major cast change this season as Nicollette Sheridan will be exiting her role as Carrington family matriarch Alexis.
The CW and CBS Television Studios said, “Nicollette Sheridan will be leaving Dynasty in order to focus on some personal family responsibilities. She was a valuable asset to the show and we wish her continued success in the future.”
Sheridan was added to the Dynasty reboot as a way of generating more buzz for the series and tying the most iconic character from the original series into its mythology. However, her character has taken a bit of a narrative backseat after a hot start in season one, this despite CW President Mark Pedowitz promising that the series would evolve into more of a mother/daughter story.
Sheridan’s last episode as Alexis is set to air this March on The CW, though TV Line indicates that the role could be recast. It would be the second recast they’ve had this season following the death of OG Cristal (Nathalie Kelley) and subsequent introduction of New Cristal (Ana Brenda Contreras), with James Mackay already demoted from series regular to recurring status.
To return from hiatus March 15th, Dynasty has already been renewed for a third season.
