BBC America has released a first look at upcoming comedic thriller Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency and in it, we see that the most simple of mysteries always have the most complicated of solutions.
Based on the Douglas Adams novel series of the same name and developed for television by Max Landis (Chronicle), Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency follows holistic detective Dirk (Samuel Barnett) and his assistant Todd (Elijah Wood) as they tackle one mystery a season and the increasingly insane obstacles that come between them and the truth. As per the trailer, the first season will focus on a mystery related to a missing girl, her murdered father, and a dog that gets held for ransom, among a litany of other avenues Dirk and Todd are forced to explore in their journey toward knowledge.
In addition to Barnett and Wood, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency stars Hannah Marks (The Real O’Neals) as Todd’s sister Amanda; Jade Eshete (Shades of Blue) as hyper competent Security Officer Farah Black; Michael Eklund (Wynonna Earp) as Martin, the violent ring leader of the Rowdy 3; Richard Schiff (The West Wing) as Zimmerfield, a missing persons detective operating decidedly off book; and Miguel Sandoval (Medium) as Colonel Scott Riggins, beleaguered CIA head of a defunct secret bureau investigating the paranormal.
Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency is set to premiere Saturday, October 22nd on BBC America.
