The second season of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency is set to premiere Saturday, October 14th at 9:00 on BBC America, it was announced today. Also released today are three first look photos that find Dirk in captivity and an overturned car acting as a clue.
Based on the novel series of the same name and adapted for television by Max Landis (Chronicle), Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency follows “holistic” detective Dirk Gently, who understands the interconnectivity of the universe, as he teams up with former bellhop Todd (Elijah Wood) to solve cases. Season two will be going in a fantasy direction, with the series having added five new players – Tyler Labine (Reaper) as Sherlock Hobbs, a small town sheriff who gets entangled in the hunt to find The Boy; Alan Tudyk (Suburgatory) as dangerous Blackwing-affiliated bounty hunter Mr. Priest; Amanda Walsh (Lost Girl) as Suzie, an insecure, unfulfilled soccer mom who transforms herself into seductive sorceress; John Hannah (Damages) as sociopathic wizard The Mage, who’s looking to destroy two worlds; and Aleks Paunovic (War for the Planet of the Apes) as Wyger Oak, a dominating enforcer for the Dengdamor royal family.
In addition to Barnett and Wood, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency stars Hannah Marks (The Real O’Neals), Jade Eshete (Ache), Fiona Dourif (When We Rise), Mpho Koaho (Saw III), Michael Eklund (Wynonna Earp), Dustin Milligan (Schitt’s Creek), and Osric Chau (Supernatural).
