Countdown to Cloak & Dagger: Costumes? Countdown to Cloak & Dagger: Costumes?
Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph discuss costumes on Marvel's Cloak & Dagger. Countdown to Cloak & Dagger: Costumes?

We’re almost there: Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger premieres on Freeform on Thursday, June 7, starring Olivia Holt (Kickin’ It) and Aubrey Joseph (The Night Of) as the title characters springing from the pages of Marvel Comics.

When Cloak & Dagger first appeared in the pages of Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man comics decades ago, they immediately had costumes, which is not something you’ll see within the first episodes of the Freeform adaptation, at least.

While at the WonderCon covention in Anaheim, California earlier this year, we asked Holt and Joseph if they, too, would like to see the iconic costumes on the show.

“I want to wear the costumes! Are you kidding? We wanted to! They’re cool,” Olivia Holt enthused, while her costar remained mum so that he wouldn’t say anything that would get the both of them in trouble.

Both actors seem very excited to bring this story to life, hoewver.

“It’s surreal, but it’s perfect timing,” Aubrey Joseph said. “I’m honored that we get to be a part of it at this time. I feel like the world needs this story right now. They need to see a companionship between a Black male and a White female. It’s the perfect comic to me. I’m a fan now!”

“I wasn’t familiar with Cloak & Dagger until the audition process started to come along,” Holt admitted. “I did read a couple of the comics just to understand the tone and the story between the two characters and what their powers were, and then once we booked the parts, we started diving in on the comics. I think we both just became really big fans. Obviously we are wanting to do the comics justice, but we are wanting to create something that brings something from the page to life in a more authentic and real way.”
