NBC has officially released its fall 2017 schedule, which is full of more moves than expected for a network firmly in the driver’s seat of broadcast television. While the Monday edition of The Voice gets military drama The Brave, something that was fairly expected, Tuesday sees the exodus of This Is Us to Thursdays and in its place, Thursday comedy hour Superstore and The Good Place. NBC’s history with comedies after the Tuesday edition of The Voice is spotty at best, so the move to displace their highest rated drama to go back to comedies here is interesting, to say the least. Meanwhile, Dick Wolf drama Chicago Fire will stay in the Tuesday at 10:00 slot that it’s done quite well in rather than move to help Wednesdays or Thursdays.
Wednesday finds The Blacklist subbing in for Blindspot at 8:00, the fourth consecutive season a different drama has aired at 8:00, while Thursday has Will & Grace up against The Big Bang Theory and leading into shock renewal Great News. This Is Us follows at 9:00 and will be used on latest Law & Order incarnation True Crime, an anthology a’la American Crime Story and USA’s upcoming Unsolved whose first season will star Edie Falco and chronicle the Menendez brothers. Friday will then see a relocated Blindspot lead into an extended second season of Taken, with Dateline closing out the night.
Shows that are coming midseason include Shades of Blue, Little Big Shots, Ellen’s Game of Games, Rise, Good Girls, Chicago Med, A.P. Bio, Champions, The Awesome Show, and The Handmade Project.
