FOX has given acclaimed police comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine a fifth season renewal. The show has been a useful utility player for the network and where FOX is still trying to figure out its comedy situation, it would be a nice tool for them to use in a more difficult time slot. Rumors have it that fellow veteran New Girl, the remaining FOX comedy whose fate has yet to be decided, could go either way.
From Dan Goor and Mike Schur (Parks and Recreation), Brooklyn Nine-Nine follows the hijinx in and around the New York Police Department’s 99th Precinct, led by decorated Captain Ray Holt (Andre Braugher, recipient of three consecutive Emmy nominations for the role) and precinct class clown Detective Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg).
In addition to Braugher and Samberg, Brooklyn Nine-Nine stars Stephanie Beatriz (Short Term 12), Terry Crews (Everybody Hates Chris), and Melissa Fumero (Gossip Girl). It’s unclear yet whether the show will have a full 22-episode order next season.
The double episode season finale of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will air May 23rd on FOX. The network will be unveiling its 2017-18 plans on Monday, May 15th; you can check out what KSiteTV think could happen with FOX next season here.
