CBS Renews 15 Shows Including NCIS, SWAT, FBI, and Blue Bloods

CBS gave out its annual mass renewal on Wednesday, picking up new seasons of 15 scripted shows on its roster. Included in the renewal blitz are all three NCIS shows; both FBI shows; veteran dramas Blue Bloods, Bull, MacGyver, Magnum P.I., SEAL Team, and SWAT; comedies The Neighborhood, Bob Hearts Abishola, and The Unicorn; and newbie legal drama All Rise, which recently got some buzz for its Zoom episode.

“Thanks to these exceptional shows, we’re going to win the current season by 1 million viewers,” said CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl said in a statement. “Next year, we’ll have these strong returning series as our foundation … and Super Bowl LV, too. It’s a well-balanced lineup across entertainment, news and sports that will put us in an incredibly stable position for 2020-2021.”

This group of shows joins previously renewed Mom, Evil, and Young Sheldon on the 2020-21 schedule. When and where we see each CBS show return is still to be determined as coronavirus is still exerting quite a bit of influence on the television industry. Questions surrounding the safety of producing new episodes abound and there’s no clear timetable for when production can resume. There’s also the lingering possibility of a fall coronavirus surge, which would surely delay production once again.

CBS will unveil its plans for fall on May 18th-19th in a digital presentation. Prior to the spread of coronavirus, the network was set to hold its in-person upfront on May 13th.
