HBO has released episode descriptions for the six-episode first season of skateboarding comedy Betty.

Based on the acclaimed Crystal Moselle film Skate Kitchen, with Moselle set to direct the entire season and co-write the first episode, Betty follows a group of New York City women navigating the predominantly male field of skateboarding. Among the women whose journeys will be chronicled are opinionated Janay, whose stubbornness and opinionated nature both help and hinder her interpersonal relationships; Honeybear, who hides her true self beneath her flagrant style; funny and slightly immature Kirt, lover to the ladies and fighter against the rest of the world; street-savvy, artsy Indigo; and awkward Camille, whose desperation to be accepted by the men at the skate park isn’t winning her any favors with her female friends.

FRIDAY, MAY 1 (11:00-11:30 p.m. ET/PT) – “Key Party”
When Janay (Dede Lovelace) and Kirt (Nina Moran) attempt to throw an all-girls skate sesh, an unexpected visitor cuts the “festivities” short, chaos ensues, and there’s also a van.

FRIDAY, MAY 8 (11:00-11:30 p.m. ET/PT) – “Zen and the Art of Skateboarding”
Donald’s (Caleb Eberhardt) unauthorized shadiness finds Janay reeling while Kirt, Indigo (Ajani Russell), and Honeybear (Moonbear) deal with the territorial skater boys. Camille (Rachelle Vinberg) and Bambi (Edmund Donovan) hang under awkward circumstances.

FRIDAY, MAY 22 (11:00-11:30 p.m. ET/PT) – “The Tombs”
