FX has announced that acclaimed comedy Better Things has been renewed for a fourth season.
“With every season, Better Things becomes more vital, engaging and revelatory, cementing Pamela Adlon’s status as one of the most accomplished creative forces in television today,” said John Landgraf, Chairman of FX Networks and FX Productions, who announced the renewal. “Rarely has there been a show that is so personal and, at the same time, so thoroughly universal in the way it explores modern parenting, family and life. We are thrilled to extend the series for a fourth season and to continue this incredible partnership with Pamela, her creative team and the amazing cast of Better Things.”
Created by and starring Pamela Adlon (King of the Hill), who also acts as showrunner and directed all 12 season three episodes, Better Things follows Sam Fox, a working actor who tries to balance an unsteady career with raising her three daughters and caring for her mother. Thus far in its run, it’s won a Peabody and a Critics’ Choice Award while being nominated for two Emmys, a TCA, a Golden Globe, and a Writers’ Guild Award, among other accolades.
In addition to Adlon, Better Things stars Mikey Madison (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), Hannah Alligood (Allegiant), Olivia Edward (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), and Celia Irmie (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel). The series is part of a scripted slate for FX that includes Pose, Baskets, American Horror Story, American Crime Story, Legion, Snowfall, Mayans M.C., Atlanta, Mr Inbetween, and Fargo.
Better Things airs Thursdays at 10:00 on FX. The third season finale is set to air May 16th.
