Dougray Scott has joined the cast of The CW’s Batwoman pilot as Kate Kane’s father, Jacob Kane. Here’s the official description of the character:
A former military colonel with a chip on his shoulder for Batman, Jacob Kane now commands Gotham’s private security firm The Crows, and has made it his mission to protect his city better than the Dark Knight ever could. But it’s only a matter of time before his unwavering disdain for vigilantes puts him at odds with Gotham’s new caped crusader…who also happens to be his own daughter.
Sadly, Scott’s casting also comes with news that had been speculated for a while but not officially confirmed: David Nutter has stepped down as director “for personal reasons” and Marcos Siega is taking over in directing the pilot. While Siega is a fantastic director in his own right, David Nutter’s direction is something that the project really had going for it.
This isn’t Scott’s first potential comic book role: Originally, Dougray Scott was to play Wolverine in the X-Men films before scheduling conflicts got in the way and he was replaced by Hugh Jackman.
