Deadline is reporting that DC-verse spinoff Batwoman has added 9-1-1 actress Elizabeth Anweis. She’ll be playing Catherine Hamilton-Kane, bullheaded defense contractor and stepmother to Kate Kane (Ruby Rose).

From Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries), with Marcos Siega (The Following) directing, Batwoman follows highly trained street fighter and outspoken social activist Kate Kane as she attempts to clean up the streets of Gotham using her Batwoman alter-ego. Should the pilot ordered to series, Kane would become the first gay lead character in a live-action superhero series.

In addition to her role on the FOX drama, Anweis has appeared on the likes of Twin Peaks: The Return, The Fosters, and The Affair. She joins a cast that includes Rachel Skarsten (Lost Girl), Meagan Tandy (Teen Wolf), and Dougray Scott (Snatch).

Batwoman is part of a development slate for The CW that includes Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene; Jane the Virgin spinoff Jane the Novela; new takes on The Lost Boys and Nancy Drew; and Glamorous, about a YouTube vlogger who gets a job at a cosmetics company.
