TNT has announced that summer dramas Claws and Animal Kingdom have been renewed for their third and fourth seasons, respectively.
Both Claws and Animal Kingdom have been resounding successes for TNT as the network continues to evolve its drama brand beyond older-skewing procedurals. With the future of The Alienist still to be determined, TNT has yet to find a third drama staple to anchor their new brand, though they have a series adaptation of Snowpiercer and Lily Rabe thriller Tell Me Your Secrets on tap.
The second season premiere of Claws is up 38% over its series premiere in L+7 ratings, with the season as a whole pacing 9% ahead of season one. Also experiencing significant growth in social media impressions (75% on Twitter, 58% on Facebook), Claws ranks as a top 5 cable drama this year and features the largest year-to-year growth of any drama on cable. Animal Kingdom, meanwhile, increased its digital views more than four times year-to-year; the two-night, two-episode premiere drew 4.3M Total Viewers and 2 million 18-49 viewers so far in Live +7, with the premiere alone drawing 978,000 18-49 in L+7.
Claws airs Sundays at 9:00 on TNT, with Animal Kingdom Tuesdays at 9:00.
