Disney Channel has announced that critically praised comedy Andi Mack has been renewed for a second season. There’s no word yet, however, on how many episodes season two will have or when it can be expected to premiere.
“There is not another series out right now – on any platform – that speaks to our core demographic with the authenticity and insight that Terri and her creative team have captured with Andi Mack,” said Gary Marsh, President and Chief Creative Officer of Disney Channels Worldwide. “This series and these characters are well on their way to becoming this generation’s Lizzie McGuire.”
From Terri Minsky (Lizzie McGuire), Andi Mack follows Andi (Peyton Elizabeth Lee), a middle schooler whose life changes overnight when she learns that the woman she always knew as her sister is actually her biological mother and that she’s been raised by her grandmother practically since birth. The series chronicles Andi adjusting to the new reality of her life while dealing with the normal growing pains that come with adolescence.
In addition to Lee, Andi Mack stars Joshua Rush (The Lion Guard), Sofia Wylie (Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn), Asher Angel (Hate from a Distance), Lilan Bowden (Filthy Preppy Teen$), and Lauren Tom (Futurama).
Andi Mack airs Fridays at 8:30 on Disney Channel.
