VH1 has announced that venerable reality competition series America’s Next Top Model has been renewed for a 24th cycle, the second that will air on the Viacom network. Additionally, the series will see the return of co-creator Tyra Banks as host, a position she held for the first 22 cycles of the show before ceding the position to multi-hyphenate Rita Ora.
“Tyra has always been the heart and soul of the franchise and her absence was deeply felt by our fiercely loyal fans who missed their Queen of the Smize,” said Ken Mok, who co-created Top Model with Banks and Kenya Barris. “We’d like to thank Rita Ora for being a great partner and total pro. She infused this new iteration of ANTM with passion and creativity and we wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors.”
Banks, who left her duties as host in order to focus on off-camera endeavors, was recently named host of America’s Got Talent, replacing Nick Cannon. It’s as yet unclear whether this is the lone change for cycle 24 of America’s Next Top Model or whether there will be shuffling of the judging panel, which included model Ashley Graham, Paper magazine chief creative officer Drew Elliott, and stylist Law Roach.
America’s Next Top Model joins a VH1 unscripted roster that includes Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, Black Ink Crew, and Couples Therapy.
Will you be watching America’s Next Top Model cycle 24? Did you stop watching the show once it moved to VH1 and Tyra recused herself from hosting? Should Top Model make a change to the panel for cycle 24?
