Caught within an article about CSI showrunner Carol Mendelsohn at Deadline.com is a mention of a project she has in development at The CW – an adaptation of Cynthia Hand’s novel Unearthly.

(Yes, last year The CW was “heavenly,” this year “unearthly” is their idea of fun).

The project is written by Hellcats creator Kevin Murphy.

Wikipedia describes Unearthly as being “a series of young adult urban fantasy novels by American author Cynthia Hand, beginning with the inaugural entry of the same name. The story follows a teenager named Clara, who learns that she is part angel and has a purpose to fulfill on Earth. While seeking answers about her role, Clara encounters friends, enemies, and romantic interests amidst her journey.”

Sounds like a supernatural step in the right direction. Anything to spare us from The Carrie Diaries, please, CW?

  1. This is very interesting. I love stuff about angels and the supernatural in general. For the love of God i hope the CW DOESNT pick up The Carrie Diaries. No one will watch it. It will only get Hart of Dixie/Gossip Girl/90210 ratings. I hope the The CW orders Dare, Unearthly, Deadman and Outsiders to pilot.
